Chimney Cleaning

When a log burns in a fireplace, the smoke that twirls up the flue leaves behind creosote, or what most refer to as soot. Creosote is a natural byproduct of wood, but if it is allowed to continue to accumulate it can become combustible and become a fire hazard. That is why chimneys should be cleaned periodically. (For more information on how often please click here.)

Here is what constitutes a typical chimney sweeping:

  1. We come in and lay a tarp in front of the fireplace.
  2. Then we bring in a high speed vacuum system to remove all the creosote that is scraped loose with our brushes.
  3. We remove, clean and adjust the damper and the damper assembly.
  4. We then scrape and clean the firebox, the smoke chamber and the chimney flue all the way through the top.
  5. You will then receive a written report that shows the overall condition of your fireplace and chimney.

If the chimney your fireplace or wood stove is housed in has not been serviced recently, feel free to call 466-9626 and schedule an appointment.
